Bargate is a medieval gatehouse in the city centre. Constructed in the 12th century, it was once part of the city walls. Visit it to learn about the history of the city and see how entering the city would have been in Norman times.
St Mary’s Stadium
For any fans of football, St Mary’s, home of Southampton FC is a must visit. Whether you go to watch a match or head there for a stadium tour, the stadium is one of the most important locations among locals.
Tudor House and Garden
In the middle of the old town, the Tudor house and garden allow you to see how Southampton residents have lived over the last 600 years. You can learn about the city’s history through the interactive exhibits or enjoy a coffee from the cafe in the immaculately maintained gardens.
Another one for sports fans, the Ageas Bowl, home to Hampshire County Cricket Club, is one of the most iconic cricket grounds in the country. Take a day out in the summer to watch some cricket and enjoy a few drinks in the sun.
Westquay shopping centre
Westquay is a shopping and leisure centre in the heart of the city. If you want to go on a shopping spree or head out for a fancy meal, Westquay has you covered. As well as this, it is a stunning building with large open space outside that often has sculptures and other art installations to admire.
